WHAT IS A NOTARY PUBLIC?
A Notary Public (sometimes called a Notary or Notary Public is a person of a proven integrIty appointed by state government to officially witness signature on legal documents, collect sworn statements, and administer oaths. A Notary Public uses seal (either a rubber stamp or embossing tool)to verify his or her presence at the time the documents were signed.

In order for the document to be properly signed and notarized, the signer must appear before the notary, prove his/her identity to the notary, and acknowledge his/her comprehension of the document and willingness to sign or swear/affirm that the contents of the document are true.

WHY ARE DOCUMENTS NOTARIZED?
Documents are notarized to deter fraud. The Notary being an impartial witness ensures the the signers of the documents are who they say they are and not imposters. The notary makes signers have entered into agreements knowingly and willingly.

DOES NOTARIZAION MEAN THAT A DOCUMENT IS "TRUE" OR "LEGAL"? - No.

Notaries are not responsible for the accuracy or legality of documents they notarize. Notaries certify the identity of signers. The signers are responsible for the content of the documents.

WE ARE A MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NOTARIES AND TRANSLATORS.
